igor's last-minute vote tripling in AZ
hi folks,
you might know that i've been door-to-door canvassing in AZ this week. i noticed that many of the folks i was talking to had already voted. when i encountered such folks, i had nothing to tell them beyond "thanks! have a nice day".
to try to solve this problem, i had this flyer designed and printed this week: https://igor.moomers.org/random/az_vote_tripling.pdf
i now have 1,000 of these, and it would be super-cheap to print more.
unfortunately, for reasons that are not super-clear to me, the organization i've been going door-to-door with (Seed the Vote, partnering with Unite Here and maybe CASE Action), has decided they don't want their volunteers handing out this flyer.
so, i'm thinking of dropping my existing canvassing effort, and instead organize my own effort focused on getting folks who've already voted to convert into volunteers in the last week of the election.
i'm curious if folks would be interested in joining this effort. we can do digital vote tripling via phone banks or text banks, and also do literature drops on the doors of folks who have already voted, or maybe even knock on the doors and try to speak with them in-person. if you're interested, can you let me know, here: https://forms.gle/qxptM2kELUWgmkVGA
---- more info:
there are already vote tripling efforts here, but they're focused on polling places: https://www.mobilize.us/votetripling/?address=Phoenix%2C%20AZ%2C%20USA&l... and those polling-place efforts will miss the (very numerous) voters who are voting by mail (PEVL, in AZ-speak).
vote tripling is apparently a fairly effective strategy, and i think it's marginal effectiveness could be quite high. more info: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1l1sGvQYuEJDteoaFJQPJtBwe2h9oex5hFF4R...
