The goal is to get the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to adopt rules that continue making rooftop solar cost-effective to install. PG&E and other investor-owned utilities (IOUs) are trying to kill rooftop solar, by passing pricing rules that actually make it MORE expensive to have solar panels on your roof than not having them.
I'm not totally sure how effective petitions are, so I've also called Newsom's office and tried to contact the CPUC directly to voice my support for rooftop solar. I will forward more action opportunities as I see them!

A quiet attack is underway to kill rooftop solar this December. This is not an ad or a joke.
The CA utility companies have created a 303 page proposal that would siphon the economic value of rooftop solar away from owners. The jaw-dropping proposal includes:
● 80% reduction in “net metering” payments (the amount utilities pay panel-owners for their excess energy) ● $65 - $90 / monthly "solar connection fee" – rain or shine! ● The result: Rooftop solar panel owners could actually be charged more on their electric bill than someone without panels! Crazy, right?
