Dear Landsliders,
Just wanted to invite you to a quick Zoom tmrw with Hadar from Mind the Gap, who will give an update on the vote.org radio GOTV program, one of LC's two current top recs for Georgia.
The funding deadline is extremely tight and we are expecting a generous match to be offered on this Zoom, so I think it's safe to say this will be your last, best chance to contribute to this particular project.
Hope you can join us, Jascha

Hadar from Mind the Gap has graciously offered to do a zoom with us Tuesday at 2:45pm PST to answer questions about a highly-effective radio campaign targeting Black and/or young Georgia voters that needs to be funded by the end of this week. Mind the Gap is not promoting this to their wider network so our group (and those in your networks) are the ones who can make a dramatic difference in the amount of radio airtime that can be purchased by this week's deadline.
The program is being administered by Vote.org, has been rigorously tested (against control groups to see how many net new Dem voters it turns out), and is tax-deductible. (The campaign is non-partisan, yet by targeting young and/or minority voters, often using the DJ's they're used to on their local radio stations, it turns out dramatically more likely Democratic voters).
If you can't make the call but believe in a highly effective get out the vote campaign, please donate here or using the attached wire instructions.
I BELIEVE A 6 FIGURE MATCH MAY BE ANNOUNCED ON THE CALL

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Brent Kessel brentkessel@gmail.com Date: Fri, Nov 13, 2020 at 11:06 PM Subject: My best funding recommendation: Georgia Runoffs To: Brent Kessel brentkessel@gmail.com
Dearest friends who contributed to our recent presidential victory,
Here's my top funding recommendation for the Georgia runoffs. It comes from an advisory group called Mind the Gap which was started recently by Stanford professors to find the most evidence-based, cost-effective ways to gain net Dem votes. (Attaching their overall strategy to give you a sense of how they bring academic rigor to the messy terrain of elections.)
In recent months, our family has invested large sums in their recommendations for mail-based voter registration and evidence-based turnout. In the general election they mounted an extensive campaign of radio ads to encourage young, Black, Latino and other voters in key states ("deep dive" on this work attached). It turns out that radio and streaming audio is one of the last proven, cheap ways to get more people to vote that is still somewhat neglected (as opposed to TV & digital which are saturated).
Now Mind the Gap is mounting a similar radio campaign in Georgia. Here is how they describe it: "For the GA Senate runoff, [we are] recommending immediate investment in a get-out-the-vote (GOTV) radio program run by Vote.org. In what is bound to be a historically high spend election, we must make sure that cost-effective, non-partisan, GOTV radio can run at full scale to ensure turnout in historically underrepresented communities in Georgia."
The timeline is rather tight: "We are confident this is a meaningful, cost-effective and likely underfunded tactic and we have very little time to make sure the program can run at scale...Because of the limited time frame and dwindling radio inventory, this $1.3 million program needs to be funded by 11/20 in order to run in full for three weeks before the runoff election."
Our family is planning to fund but a large gap remains, all of it 501c3. As far as I know we are the first to commit, and since Mind the Gap is not actively fundraising, it's not clear if anyone else will fund in time. I've included some more detail from a conversation my friend Jascha had with a Mind the Gap staffer here. Wiring instructions attached, or donate by credit card here. I'd be happy to answer questions, or feel free to get in touch directly with Hadar Sachs hadar@mtg2020.org at Mind the Gap (please cc me if you do, and please let us both know if you decide to contribute).
Thanks in advance for your interest.
Hugs,
Brent
